US President Donald Trump left the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Canada one day before its scheduled conclusion. The White House said his early departure was due to the situation in the Middle East.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on X that Trump would leave after dinner with other heads of state. She noted that “much was accomplished,” but the president would return early “because of what’s going on in the Middle East.”

Macron Highlights Trump’s Ceasefire Offer

French President Emmanuel Macron said: "There is indeed an offer to meet and exchange. An offer was made especially to get a ceasefire and to then kick-start broader discussions."

Trump had made an offer aimed at securing a ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Macron described the move as a possible starting point for wider talks, as Reuters reported.

Trump had earlier called for the immediate evacuation of Tehran. He repeated his view that Iran should have agreed to a nuclear deal with the United States.

G7 Divided but Agrees on Ceasefire

The G7 meeting, held in Kananaskis in the Canadian Rockies, had already been marked by disagreements. The group has struggled to find unity on conflicts in Ukraine and between Israel and Iran. Trump has shown support for Russian President Vladimir Putin and has placed tariffs on some allied nations.

Despite the divisions, Trump agreed to a joint G7 statement. It called for de-escalation in the Middle East and a ceasefire in Gaza. The statement also expressed support for Israel’s right to defend itself and labeled Iran a source of instability in the region.
